Spitfire is located in Kromboom Convenience Centre in Kromboom road, Cape Town, South Africa.
We visited Spitfire on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. We have been to Spitfire before but this was the first time after the renovations and we were really impressed.
While waiting for our food to arrive we kept the kids busy with some crafts from Mr Maker. These crafts were quite cool. They were foam stickers which the kids put on a page and stuck eyeballs on them and created some stories.
We were quite hungry as it was a slightly later lunch. This is what we had:
- Crumbed Mushrooms
- Fillet steak with a salad side
- Grilled chicken burger
- Beef Shawarma
- Margherita Pizza
The crumbed mushrooms as a starter was really tasty. It was definitely one of the best crumbed mushrooms I have had. The dip that it came with was simply delicious. Before we could finish the crumbed mushrooms the main meals all arrived.
The kids, as always, were really excited to taste the chips and onion rings (And ate up most of it before we could taste it). Luckily we got to taste a little of it before it was devoured by them. I must say, the chips were really good. They were crispy and tasty, and were not oily which we loved.
I loved the spiciness of the fillet steak (I had requested spicy). It was cooked exactly to my specifications which was medium-well.
The grilled chicken burger was quite big. We cut it into a few pieces and we all shared it. It had a delicious taste. The fillet was succulent and the sauces and salad were amazing. The bun, as well, was soft and crispy.
The margherita was really cheesy and tasty, just how it should be. The pizza base was perfect. We all enjoyed it.
My favourite was the beef shawarma. It was delicious, succulent and flavoursome and the portion size was really generous.
It was really nice to try out the other items on the Spitfire menu than what we usually order. We usually have a family meal with a nachos as a starter and we’ve always really enjoyed it.
Spitfire has a really nice seating area and a nice vibe to it. On this visit we did not try any drinks or desserts. Based on my experience of the food, I have no doubt that the drinks and desserts will be of the highest quality and will taste great.
Amazing great quality food, large seating area, quick service and a pleasant ambiance make Spitfire an amazing family friendly restaurant to try out when on holiday in Cape Town. Locals of Cape Town, have you guys tried out Spitfire? What is your favourite meal you would recommend for people visiting Cape Town or trying out Spitfire for the first time?
