Lokma Vakti is located in Mecidiyeköy Levant, Istanbul. It is owned by a South African couple living in Istanbul.
We tasted many desserts in Istanbul, ranging from the famous kunafe, tres leche, sutlac and many others but nothing came close to the lokma.
This was by far our best turkish dessert and tea experience. The lokma is a turkish doughnut. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and is drenched in amazing chocolate with some sprinkles on top. From the first bite we were hooked. The turkish tea was also the best that we had tasted throughout our stay in Istanbul.
We are back home now and the one thing we are missing the most about being in Istanbul is eating the lokma. We visited Lokma Vakti on our last night of being in Istanbul. Had we been there earlier there is no doubt that we would have been back there for more of the lokma and tea.
The decor and ambiance at Lokma Vakti was also really nice and relaxed. There is a wall where you can write a note and stick it which looked pretty cool. There is also a lovely swing at the front which adds to the amazing decor.
We honestly wish we had this here in South Africa, it was that good. When we do go back to Istanbul this would be one of the first places we would visit.
