5 Reasons to visit Istanbul with Kids

The following reasons are based on our recent trip to Istanbul over Sep/Oct 2019. We travelled with our 3 kids, ages 6, 4 and 2.

Here are 5 reasons why we think you should travel to Istanbul with kids.

1) Lego Land and Sea Life Aquarium

Both these attractions are located in a mall within close proximity to each other. This allowed us to visit both these attractions on the same day. Lego Land was very interactive and engaging and was well suited for our kids ages.

The Sea Life Aquarium was really fun too and our kids enjoyed seeing many different kinds of fish as well as walking through the tunnels where the sea life swims above and next to you.

2) The public transport is pram friendly

During our stay in Istanbul we made use of all the various public transport systems which included the underground metro, the tram, the bus, the boat and the cable car (to Pierre Loti). We never have to fold up the pram, while using any of the transport systems, which made it really convenient for us to get around the city.

3) There are many public parks to enjoy

All around the city you will find parks where you can take a breather from all the sightseeing while the kids have some fun playing in the park.

4)  The rich Islamic history in Istanbul

Topkapi museum is full of amazing artifacts that display the legacy of Islam. It really felt amazing to share this experience with our kids as we explained to our older 2 about the different personalities in Islamic history.

5) Dolmabahce Palace

This palace was absolutely breathtaking. Being in the palace felt like we went back in time and experienced how the royal families lived. Our kids actually felt like they were in a fairy tale running down the passages from one room to the next.
